The Catalyst

It is well-known that the furniture industry is intricate. While it all begins with a proposal and ends with a margin, it is the details in the middle that complicate the process. If you are like many others in the business, you depend on a software application to manage workflow. The choices that exist in the marketplace focus on order entry and accounting, but fail to encompass the complexities of the industry.

Status Quo

The story behind DealerChoice begins at one large east coast dealership. At its conception, the dealership employed 2 individuals - this number increased to 45 over a fifteen year period. As the dealership grew, so did the challenges of generating clean orders and maintaining profitable margins. The growing volume of business demanded a more sophisticated ordering and accounting system. The company purchased an industry specific software application to process orders that were once being produced in spreadsheet form. This application, and others like it, made it possible to do business: however, it did not encompass several aspects of the industry that are vital to the success of a furniture dealership. In order to incorporate the aspects this application lacked, this dealership created its own workarounds to control discounting, and capture otherwise lost labor and design fees. Overtime, this dealership began to question their efficiency given the fact that they were working around, instead of within their business software. Ideally, they wanted their business to flow through one system, making everything accessible centrally, thus achieving a seamless workflow.

DealerChoice is Born

After listening to what other dealerships were struggling with and noticing how similar their needs were, it was apparent that dealerships needed a choice. The creators of DealerChoice decided to leave their dealership positions, in order to fulfill their new roles as solution providers to the furniture industry.

The Future

Today, our technology company offers a solution. We have developed an application that manages a seamless workflow specific to the furniture industry. Going forward, our initiative is to educate dealerships on the opportunity that this new application presents. Our goal is to become an industry leader by providing a technology solution that will advance the efficiency of the overall industry.
